STATEMENT OF INTEREST

Intel is a world leader in designing and manufacturing computer, communication, and other electronic components. With nearly 17,000 U.S. patents, it has one of the nation’s largest patent portfolios and is among the top 10 recipients of U.S. patents each year. As such, it is a strong supporter of the patent system. On the other hand, Intel also is a requent target of patent infringement lawsuits, many involving patent claims of highly questionable validity. The latter concern motivates Intel to submit this brief.
