INTEREST OF AMICUS CURIAE
The Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (“PhRMA”) is a voluntary, nonprofit association representing the nation’s leading research-based pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. PhRMA advocates in support of public policies that encourage the discovery of life-saving and life-enhancing new medicines for patients by pharmaceutical and biotechnology research companies. In support of that mission, PhRMA members invested approximately $45.8 billion (of an industry total of approximately $65.3 billion) in 2009 in the discovery and development of new medicines.
